The Netherlands has always been a hotspot for financial trading and this company wants to keep it that way. They are a High Frequency Trading firm that lives and breathes technology. For every trader on the floor there are at least two developers working hard behind the scenes. Make no mistake, IT is their core business. In such a competitive market speed performance and reliability are everything. And that is exactly where you come in.
To speed up innovation and boost productivity across the company a new team is forming. They are looking for the best IT Operations Engineers to join them on some of the most challenging projects around. You will be the one keeping all systems networks and devices running smoothly so traders engineers and everyone else can do their best work without tech slowing them down.
What about the role?
As a member of this A-team, you will get to see every part of the organization and look for ways to improve it. From speeding up decision-making processes or deployments to optimizing trading algorithms for performance. As an IT Operations Engineer, you provide full time on site first second and third line support. You keep physical and virtual desktops working and manage infrastructure like O365, Active Directory, Email, Mobile Device Management and audio visual systems. You deploy updates for Windows and macOS, including apps like Adobe and Java. You install, fix and modify hardware and software such as servers, desktops and printers and troubleshoot network issues, escalating and documenting when needed. You also help Facilities Management with desk and equipment moves.
For example, if traders struggle with slow or unstable connections during critical meetings, you diagnose the network, fix the issue and make sure it doesn’t happen again. You take ownership, work independently and help build a scalable IT environment that keeps everyone moving.
Now you have my attention
You bring a strong drive to learn and develop yourself, both technically and personally. You’re curious and want to understand why things work the way they do, how to improve and automate tasks, and how to use technology to make the whole setup more reliable. You’re a self-starter who works with urgency and prioritizes based on business needs. You have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience in an ICT-related field and live in the Netherlands. At least two years of experience in a similar fast-paced IT operations role is a must. Your English is solid, both written and spoken, since you’ll work with a diverse team.
You’re confident with Windows and Mac operating systems, and Linux experience is a nice plus. Troubleshooting and solving problems proactively and creatively is your thing. You’re also willing to get hands-on with physical tasks like desk moves and room setups. Since the IT Ops team works fully on-site, you’re ready to be in the office full-time and hit the ground running.
So this trading thing, what does it pay?
Pretty damn well, to be honest. You’ll start with a base salary between €50.000,- and €65 000,- gross a year plus a year-end bonus so big you could practically buy yourself a car.
